Place de la Concorde - The Death of Marie Antoinette

Description: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Antoinette

Descripcion foto: Known as Madame Déficit during the Revolution, Queen Marie Antoinette was convicted by the Revolutionary Tribunal of high treason a few months after the execution of his husband, King Louis XVI. Her execution was also carried out in Place de la Revolution, in front of the newly installed 'Liberty' statue, that replaced the one of King Louis XV. She was brought to the square in an open cart from the Conciergerie, wearing a plain white dress, maintaining her composure despite the insults of the jeering crowd. Marie Antoinette was guillotined at 12:15 p.m. on 16 October 1793. Her last words are recorded as, "Pardonnez-moi, monsieur. Je ne l'ai pas fait exprès" or "Pardon me, sir, I did not do it on purpose", after accidentally stepping on her executioner's shoe.
