Descripcion foto: The Battle of the Silarius River was the final, decisive action of the Third Servile War, or War of Spartacus. The revolt began in 73 BC, with the escape of around 70 slave gladiators from a gladiator school in Capua, that within two years, they had been joined by some 120,000 men, women, and children. The Roman Senate put eight legions under the leadership of Marcus Licinius Crassus to destroy this army of slaves, which were finally defeated in the battle of the Silarius river.
